Following another successful year of bringing the Ballymoney community together, BEAM – Building Empowerment and Awareness to Mind is inviting people of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of connection, conversation and wellbeing at BEAM in the Park 2026.
Taking place on Sunday 16 August, from 2pm to 5pm in Riverside Park, Ballymoney, the free community event encourages people to slow down, spend time outdoors, and enjoy one another’s company in one of the town’s most beautiful green spaces.
Guests are encouraged to pack a picnic, bring a blanket or camping chair, and relax for an afternoon featuring gentle live music, games and activities for children, and opportunities to connect with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
The event follows another busy year for BEAM, which has continued to promote positive mental health and stronger community connections through a range of initiatives. Earlier this year, over 50 volunteers took part in a community litter pick in Riverside Park, while more than 200 people gathered before dawn in May for the group’s second annual Dawn Walk, sending a powerful message of hope, togetherness and community care.
Hannah Graham, one of the founders of BEAM, said the group wants to continue creating opportunities for people to come together in simple but meaningful ways.
“We often underestimate the difference that spending time with other people can make. Sharing a picnic, chatting with someone new, listening to music or simply enjoying our beautiful park together can all have a positive impact on our wellbeing. BEAM in the Park is about creating a space where everyone feels welcome.”
BEAM was established by local volunteers who wanted to encourage more open conversations about mental health while building and strengthening community connections. The organising group includes Hannah Graham, Katherine Murphy, Zara Hutchinson, Clare Doherty, and Lee Kane.
Organiser Zara Hutchinson said the event reflects the values that have shaped BEAM from the beginning.
“At BEAM we often say that a connected community is a community that cares. Over the past year we’ve seen that in action time and time again, whether through the litter pick, the Dawn Walk or the many conversations that have happened because of them. We hope BEAM in the Park will be another opportunity for people to make new connections, catch up with old friends, and enjoy spending time together.”
There is no need to register for the event. Organisers simply encourage people to bring a picnic, invite family or friends along, and enjoy an afternoon celebrating community, kindness and wellbeing together.
